Is additional profit hiding in the padding your estimators put in every project?

Do you know how often extra loads of fill or gravel are used? Are your crews reworking grades because the concrete guys won't accept the work as completed? Your projects may be within budget, but your profit is impacted every time a grading error occurs.
INTRODUCING THE FIELD-TESTED

GRADE STAKE PRO

The Grade Stake Pro application reduces human error when manually checking grades off grade stakes and enables workers to work faster.

Imagine if, instead of spending the cushion your project managers build into estimates to cover preventable mistakes, that money went to your bottom line.

Or, into your pocket!

Errors in grading can add up to ten's of thousands of dollars vanishing from your bottomline.

GPS alone isn't the solution.

Even the best GPS technology, used with the utmost care, is only accurate within the size of a golf ball. You require greater precision when working with existing infrastructure.

Adding to the inaccuracy are operators failing to check and recalibrate their systems for blade wear. Signal interference that sets blade depth incorrectly. Or, the tip of a rover slips a little too deeply into the surface it's measuring.  These variances can add up and can cause substantial material waste and rework.

Take the time to avoid stupid mistakes.

Your foremen know the only way to catch problems before they cost you money is through regular, manual checking of grades off grade stakes.

Until now, the accuracy of manual checking for grades off of grade stakes has also been subject to human error. These errors include incorrect math and conversions or using the wrong project data for variables like rock and concrete depth relative to finished requirements.

"This app is perfect for guys in their first five years on the job. It is another tool they can use to get their grades spot-on. I remember how often I got yelled at for the wrong calculations when I was checking grades in my first few years. As a foreman, I can trust that my guys now have a tool to backstop them until they are masters. I wish I had this early in my career. "

Centralized Set-up

The project manager sets the concrete, asphalt overlay, curb, and rock depths.

Once set-up info is accessible to all users.

User Input

The end user accesses the application on their phone. They Select the project and the preset variables, then enter the grade stake info, cut/fill, and select the value they wish to calculate.

User Result

The application returns results for all possible elevations from the bottom of the 12-inch prep to the top of the curb/final grade.

Matthew Schwarz

Matthew has always had a keen eye for risk in critical workflows. As a respected forensics, law enforcement, and road construction expert, he found his purpose in creating products and procedures that reduce the risk of human error.

Working with road construction crews, he saw two issues.

  1. Without routine and precise manual checking of grades, projects run an almost certain risk of error.
  2. Crew members needed to apply complex math and recall required site values precisely, or their grade checks would be in error.

Over the past year, Schwarz has developed, tested, and refined the Grades Stake Pro.
